Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver announced their separation after 25 years of marriage, with Shriver moving out of the couple's Brentwood mansion. The Los Angeles Times revealed that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child ten years earlier with an employee in their household. The household staff member was employed by the family for 20 years and retired in January. Shriver left their mansion after Schwarzenegger acknowledged the infidelity and paternity of the child.

Darrell Issa has dismissed his chief spokesman, Kurt Bardella, after concluding that Mr. Bardella had secretly and regularly shared his e-mail conversations with a New York Times reporter who is writing a book about Washington’s political culture. While Issa admits there was no evidence that internal committee documents or Congressional documents were inappropriately shared or that any official rule violations occurred, he says Bardella acted improperly. The Cunningham scandal is a U.S. political scandal in which defense contractors paid bribes to members of Congress and officials in the U.S. Defense Department, in return for political favors in the form of federal contracts.
